A long-established and much-anticipated event of the Salone del Mobile in Milan, Doppia Firma celebrates the alliance between design innovation and the tradition of great master craftspeople. Unprecedented creative partnerships between a designer/artist and an artisan or manufacturer of excellence generate meaningful objects that draw their power from the cross-fertilisation of design and artisanal savoir-faire. Big Shadow by Marcel Wanders is the special piece created by Milan’s historical metalworking atelier, Ambrogio Carati, in collaboration with De Castelli for the 2024 edition of Doppia Firma, presented by the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship in the exquisite Villa Mozart.

The decorative language of the famous Dutch designer meets the textural experimentation of De Castelli: the pure shapes of the lamp are in copper with the sophisticated DeNuance finish, in new red and black tones for both the shiny and matt versions. With a truncated conical base and a cylindrical lampshade, the shape of Big Shadow is an ode to classic table lamps, which have gone from everyday objects to a precious sculptural presence.
