Giorgio Cini Foundation, Venice
On the occasion of the prestigious international event of Homo Faber 2026, held on the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice, De Castelli has created an elegant reception desk to welcome Homo Faber attendees to the Glasshouse, a fine dining restaurant located in an orangery to witness fine dining experiences, engaging with the interior design by APML | Architetti Pedron / La Tegola.
The semicircular desk is covered in Dorico, a system designed by Francesco Forcellini. Crafted in polished stainless steel sheet metal, its surface is crossed by deep grooves, a reference to the namesake classical order from ancient Greece. The DeFauvé finish enriches the shiny, reflective aesthetic of stainless steel with deep, shimmering tonal gradients, the result of a hand-fired oxidation process.
Once again, the Venetian island of San Giorgio Maggiore is the stage for Homo Faber, the biennial event dedicated to contemporary workmanship curated by the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship, with the Giorgio Cini Foundation and the Cologni Foundation for the Métiers d’Art.
The participation of De Castelli in this cultural project dedicated to beauty and the value of the human touch reflects a vision which is also shared by the company and its founder and CEO Albino Celato. In 2024, the prestigious Cologni Foundation named Mr Celato a Maestro d’Arte e Mestiere precisely for his ability to build upon the artisanal expertise handed down through four generations, launching a business that has expanded horizons in terms of the potential of metal.
