Matter becomes a threshold between the human and the sacred. In the new liturgical space of the Church of Santa Lucia in Biadene, metal enters into dialogue with architecture, ritual and light, becoming an integral part of the sacred environment. Brass and copper are transformed through natural oxidation, their surfaces shaped by the gesture of the hand into fluid, living expressions of matter.
In this project, the choice of material carries a liturgical significance. The deep blue tones evoke the infinite, establishing a visual connection between earth and sky. This effect is made possible by the flexibility of DeNuance finishing on copper, which allows the material to achieve the precise tones envisioned for the project.
A unified material language brings together the altar, ambo, presidential chair and Paschal candle within a single spatial and symbolic composition, where craftsmanship becomes an integral part of a collective act of making. De Castelli contributed to the project through the creation of all metal elements, as part of a process shaped by the shared expertise of designers and local craftspeople.
