Organic forms of metal
2022 marked a pivotal milestone for De Castelli. More than a significant achievement, it represented a new beginning — one that would shape the direction of the company’s activities in the years ahead.
Building on the continuity and coherence of a journey that has defined its identity to date, De Castelli reaffirmed its commitment to innovation, craftsmanship, and research. This path has established the company as a trusted partner in the world of design, capable of bringing the expressive potential of metal to projects of every scale, from bespoke interiors to large architectural developments.
De Castelli’s new approach began with a detailed research project focused on the revival of late-nineteenth-century hammering techniques that have been long forgotten, thanks in part to the assistance of ultrarare equipment, to give rise to complex forms that would be unobtainable without the manual intervention of qualified craftsmen.
A project focused on the kind of controlled deformation that produces curved, sinuous lines without a continuous radius, unique, one-of-a-kind proportions and surfaces called upon to dialogue with the light and other materials that make up the space, soft or rough surfaces to touch, to get to know, to experience.
Research on forms and nature comes to life in Efesto.
More than mere furniture, the Efesto stool is a sculpture for home which exalts the brand manufacturing capabilities: by curving and bending metal sheet, brass is manually shaped and hammered to create its unique triangular cross section. The polished finishing further highlights its sinuous shape. Entirely without mechanical joints, Efesto’s ability to support heavy weights is created through its meticulously designed structure. The technical savoir-fair and the intrinsic qualities of brass elevate it beyond a functional object to a unique, sophisticated de2022 is a fundamental milestone for De Castelli. It’s a new starting point, one that will determine the guidelines of its activities in the years to come, in continuity and consistency with the path taken up to the present day, which has helped the company become a preferred partner in the design world, no matter how large or small the project, in terms of the use of metal.
