De Castelli Headquarters
The Arena De Castelli hosted its first public theater event, part of the Combinazioni Festival. The evening featured an emotionally charged and thought-provoking play, “Fango. Storia di una alluvione”, written and performed by Mara Moschini and Marco Cortesi. The play, which recounts the flood that devastated Emilia-Romagna in May 2023, left an indelible mark on people’s consciousness. Through their performance, they captured the intense human experience of natural disaster, focusing particularly on the resilience and solidarity of ordinary people in the face of extraordinary adversity.
The Arena De Castelli recently hosted its inaugural public theater event, which proved to be an overwhelming success, completely sold out. The performance was part of the Combinazioni Festival, this year reaching its 10th edition. The theme of this year was “We Care. Verso una democrazia della cura”, drawing inspiration from Don Lorenzo Milani’s motto, “I Care”, which calls for a collective responsibility in caring, rooted in a relational perspective that shapes what it means to be a citizen in a democratic society. From this foundation, the festival invited deep reflections and diverse performances exploring the many facets of care: care for ourselves, for the communities we belong to, and for the planet that sustains us.
The event marked a pivotal starting point for the Arena De Castelli, which officially became a venue for cultural and social events. For the first time, the space hosted an initiative that gave room to the community, thus solidifying its role as a place for gathering for the local area.
De Castelli invited the 31 designers who contributed to the Ornamentum project to a special lunch held in their workshops.
