Expo 2025 Osaka
The SaloneSatellite Permanent Collection makes its distinguished debut in Osaka. From September 7 to 20, the SaloneSatellite Permanent Collection 1998–2025 will be on display within the prestigious Italy Pavilion, an architectural work by Mario Cucinella Architects. Curated by Marva Griffin Wilshire, visionary founder of SaloneSatellite, and brought to life through an evocative exhibition design by Ricardo Bello Dias and Hariadna Pinate, the exhibition stands as a compelling tribute to the enduring synergy between designers and the excellence of Made in Italy craftsmanship — a partnership that has defined the very essence of SaloneSatellite since its inaugural edition in 1998.
On display are 47 products selected from the Permanent Collection, offering the international public a compelling narrative of the fruitful synergy and virtuous dialogue between design and the craftsmanship of Italian manufacturing. Among the selected products is Painting, a refined screen designed by Alessandra Baldereschi, which stands as a testament to the forward-thinking approach of De Castelli — an enterprise distinguished by its ability to recognize and nurture emerging talent, amplifying the designer’s poetic language through its masterful artisanal excellence.
Painting is a large screen designed as a theatre curtain, in which imaginary natural landscapes, a night sky and the outline of a series of hills, alternate. The chromatic variations obtained thanks to the different surface oxidations resemble the colors of a painting on canvas, with the resulting image becoming a stage backdrop.
