Launched in 2022, De Castelli’s new approach began with a detailed research project focused on the revival of late-nineteenth-century hammering techniques that have been long forgotten, thanks in part to the assistance of ultrarare equipment, to give rise to complex forms that would be unobtainable without the manual intervention of qualified craftsmen. A project focused on the kind of controlled deformation that produces curved, sinuous lines without a continuous radius, unique, one-of-a-kind proportions and surfaces called upon to dialogue with the light and other materials that make up the space, soft or rough surfaces to touch, to get to know, to experience.
