Corten
COR-TEN is a type of steel characterized by high mechanical and corrosion resistance: de facto, if exposed to atmospheric agents, a patina similar to rust forms on its surface which prevents the spread of corrosion.
Any differences between the product and/or project and samples are not to be considered as defects, but as inherent characteristics deriving from the artisan working process which may result in finishing variations in terms of nuances, oxidation and homogeneity, in particular for products and projects realised in different times.
Differences compared to the sample being viewed are to be considered not as a defect, but as a characteristic of manual processing which may be susceptible to variations in shade and homogeneity.
For cleaning and maintenance use a cotton cloth without using any product nor water.
Usage notes
For outdoor use, De Castelli supplies corten in an advanced state of oxidation. Oxidation will stabilise in approximately 10-16 months: during this period rust particles may be released which can stain lighter and more permeable surfaces. For indoor use, Corten is treated with a stabilizing wax to make the surface more pleasant to the touch and avoid the release of impurities typical of this material. Upon request, a wax kit is available for surface preservation.
