FairAt the Salone trade fair, De Castelli presents Biomorphic, an exhaustive research into the lost techniques of hammering and creating convex reliefs from the late 19th century. Techniques given new life by De Castelli today to make complex metal shapes that would be impossible to create without the manual intervention of skilled workers. A process that is in continual development, which leads to the development of organic and natural, “biomorphic” forms.

The new collections of furniture and furnishing accessories developed with the designers Adriano Design, Francesco Forcellini, Luca Pevere, Martinelli Venezia, Roberto Nicoletti, Elisa Ossino, Stormo Studio, Zanellato Bortotto was on show.

Project specifications
Vela wall cladding

The Vela covering system includes predefined and modular panels characterized by metal sheets designed as if they were a fabric moved by the wind. Expertly shaped, the soft and light waves give life to unusual and unexpected coverings capable of provoking different emotional reactions and perceptions depending on the viewer’s position.

Twist ceiling

Twist in its suspended version efficiently illuminates the entire room, while remaining an elegant piece of furniture with its refined design. A two-dimensional metal surface becomes three dimensional thanks to hand-crafted processes: folding, hammering, bending, and soldering generate different light diffusers inspired by the complex shapes of conoids, starting from a single outline. The finishes and the processes used combine to play with the alternation of brushed and oxidised, reflecting light in unexpected ways from piece to piece.

Twist table

More pleasant than a pendant light, Twist table offers fine and diffused lighting, adding a touch of elegance and refinement to any environment. Nami

Nami is a modular bookcase characterized by a sinuous course that also makes it a separate self-standing, if positioned in the center of the room to configure the space. In the “C” composition, Nami embraces like a hug, while in the “S” composition it draws a rhytmic and balanced profile of solids and voids.

The striped DeLabré stainless steel structure is enriched by the decorative band, available in precious De Castelli finishes on steel, brass and copper, to furnish the room with personality

Canneto Barista

The bar, a much-loved place and symbol of sociability, enters the house, bringing with it emotions that epitomise the Italian lifestyle. Barista is a compact mobile bar with a sculptural volume, characterised by a ribbed effect comprising brushed metal rods of differing diameters which create an irregular texture and give life to a soft play of light. The upper surface is slightly lower than the perimeter, thus making it useful for resting and serving drinks.

The mobile bar opens like a book: the perfect 180° opening action is made possible by the design solution which incorporates a “V” shape, thus enabling the two symmetrical halves to align perfectly. The opening action is helped by two small wheels housed within the base. The interior is made entirely of stainless steel with a special mirrored finishing, which multiplies the kaleidoscope of colours of the beverages and the reflections from the glass bottles and glasses, engendering an elegant atmosphere reminiscent of a club or café. Barista is equipped to hold bottles and glasses of different shapes and sizes.

Canneto Cabinet

Canneto Cabinet extends vertically, with two L-shaped doors that open at 90 degrees thanks to their unique design. Its sculptural surface is defined by fluting composed of vertical rods of different sizes in brushed metal, creating irregular undulations and a fascinating interplay of reflections.

Canneto Console

The sculptural surface is defined by fluting composed of vertical rods of different sizes in brushed metal, creating irregular undulations and a fascinating interplay of reflections.

Extending horizontally, it has two L-shaped doors that open at 90 degrees thanks to their unique design. The longest version includes at the centre two large basket-style drawers each nestle a smaller drawer within them.
The metal top is set slightly lower than the doors and the perimeter of the piece, highlighting the frame in canaletto walnut, a precious wood used to create haute sophistication. The slightly recessed top is exceptionally practical as a support for many different items.

The console comes in a wall-mounted or a free-standing version.

Botero

Botero, a large side table, embodies refined technical expertise in its details.
The cambering, an artisanal technique used to create its rounded surface, has been recovered and re-interpreted by De Castelli, transforming this sculptural object into the quintessence of complexity and formal sophistication. The central opening offers glimpses of a curved, soft shape rendered solid by the masterful work executed to weld the top and the legs to the central element.

Between Nature

The romantic idea of an organicistic, vitalistic and dialectical nature is the concept of Between Nature: coffee tables with a solid base that look at an organized nature in which the parts live in function of the whole; nature as a structured and dynamic reality that manifests itself in the artifact. Characterized by a monolithic base in marble by IPOGEO ® by Margraf Innovation Lab, the tables welcome metal trays in different shapes, that seem to float on the marble surfaces. Between Nature celebrates the collaboration between De Castelli and Margraf .
