In 2023, De Castelli advanced its research into production processes under the leadership of CEO Albino Celato, the fourth generation of a family carrying forward a centuries-old metalworking tradition. Renowned for its innovative experimental techniques and exceptional craftsmanship, the company continues to push the boundaries of metal design. The latest Glyphē research represents a further milestone in the evolution of stainless steel, copper, and brass applications for interior design, decorative wall surfaces, and architectural projects.

The unique shapes and processes of Glyphē give life to material deformations on high thicknesses and distinctive surface markings. De Castelli uses a new sophisticated and modern method of metal forging that updates traditional techniques with a contemporary language to enhance the material, replacing iron with brass to produce elegant and refined materials.

Each of the seven 2023 Glyphē textures, with their rhythmic movements on highly distinctive material surfaces, is conceived for the global high-end retail market, displaying a high level of expressive power and sophistication.

The Xilo coffee table, designed by Delineo Design studio, is the first outcome of this research: a valuable piece that highlights the new techniques on a precious material with a significant consistency while retaining the memory of experiments carried out on previous collections. The legacy of ancient handcrafted techniques marks each Glyphē slab and pieces of furniture created in the De Castelli workshops: depictions of ancestral signs and symbols, modern decorations inspired by traditional patterns from cultures near and far, material figurations and erosions produced by the application of pressure on handmade and totally unique moulds.

The Aare Gorge in Switzerland is testimony to natural erosion, shaped by the last ice age. Here, a river originated from melting glaciers once carved deep into the rock, cutting to its core. Thus, little by little, light began working its way into the cracks, amid ancient limestone stratifications. Thanks to a centre slit, these lamps take on the archetypical form of earthly geography sculpted by ice, reproducing its prehistoric beauty, as if they were forged centuries ago.
