De Castelli has been selected as one of the twelve producers of excellence for INSIEME. Curated by Sabato De Sarno, this exhibition is the first chapter in Archivio Italia, a new cultural-editorial project which places work done by humans, technical expertise, time and experience at the centre.
On display at Piscina Cozzi, the show is divided into six families of materials: glass, ceramics, metal, stone, wood and fabric. Together, they paint a picture of contemporary craftsmanship to tell the stories of people in addition to objects.
Through its metals and unique finishes, De Castelli has interpreted the vision of Sabato De Sarno and enriched the former toilets of this historical public swimming pool with a metal installation which fluctuates between the site’s small dressing room-compartments like fabric fluttering in the wind. The large surface of Vela is made of sheet metal which has been expertly shaped into soft, airy waves. Its new finish, on stainless steel, fuses oxidation with a colour that was specially created to echo the yellow of INSIEME: rather than a chromatic decoration, it is an accent which generates a deeply emotional image and lights up the rooms with an unexpected presence.
